Liza Homes names Arena and Park in Whitby

Liza Homes Arena launched at Grand Opening of McKinney Centre

The Town of Whitby has concluded its largest corporate sponsorship package to date with Liza Homes. This continues the Town’s program of business partnerships which includes six of its 10 arenas now corporately named, plus an array of other sponsorship positions from venue titles to advertising on street sweepers.

The Liza sponsorship is connected to the opening of the $13.1 million McKinney Centre. The architecturally advanced facility features two hockey rinks, a unique ‘figure skating only’ arena plus meeting rooms, dry-land training facilities and a food court among its amenities. Phase 2 of the project is development of Whitby’s first fully accessible park and playground on the adjacent 4 acre property.

The first hockey rink is titled Liza Homes Arena 1. The concourse is named Folkstone Lobby and in the mezzanine, one community meeting room will be called Montglen Hall. When it opens next year, the outside space will be Folkstone Park. Liza Homes is a major developer and home builder in Whitby. Its multi-phase Folkstone community is adjacent to the McKinney Centre property near Taunton Road and Brock Street, making the connection a natural.

The launch of the Liza Homes Arena is part of the Grand Opening Ceremonies for McKinney Centre planned for October 23rd.
