Rogers
Cable and Maple Lodge Farms
Name Arenas
at Iroquois Park Sports Centre
Two more prominent Canadian corporations have placed their brand on arenas at Canada's largest municipal sports/recreational facility, the Iroquois Park Sports Centre (IPSC) in Whitby. The announcement marks the fourth of six arenas in the centre now corporately named.
Since opening in 1997, the Town of Whitby which owns and operates the centre has actively engaged private sector partners to increase efficiencies and reduce operational costs. This unique approach has contributed to keeping ice, pool and athletic field rates affordable for the community and allowed the facility to run without tax payer subsidy.
The arena sponsorship is a natural fit for Maple Lodge Farms given its history of involvement with the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and community sports. The deal involves exclusive supplier status for chicken products in the Food Court and Restaurant as well. "This sponsorship agreement with Iroquois Park is in line with our promotion of healthy lifestyles and eating choices," said Fred Marques, Marketing Manager, Maple Lodge Farms. "But supporting the Sports Centre also gives an opportunity to show our support for the Whitby area, where like in every Canadian city, the arena is an integral part of the community." ROCK, Maple Lodge Farms' rooster mascot peers through doors and propels the zamboni on Maple Lodge Farms Arena 4.
Rogers Communication continues
its dominance in sports media and properties by taking the largest sponsorship
position available at IPSC, title of the prestigious spectator arena. Rogers
Arena 1 has seating capacity of over 2000, is home to the Brooklin Redmen Jr.
"A" lacrosse team and the site of NHL alumni games, figure skating
shows, tournament championships and various other high profile special events
throughout the year. The move compliments Rogers' ownership of the Toronto Blue
Jays, Sportsnet Cable TV and The Fan 590 radio. The partnership also brings
Rogers cable, high speed internet and digital service throughout Iroquois Park
and the Sports Garden Café restaurant. Rogers Sales and Promotions Specialist
Kristine Nash explains; "Besides the obvious sports marketing synergies,
we value the association with a community institution. We customize many of
our sales promotions to directly contribute back to community causes."
The sponsorship at Iroquois Park Sports Centre also compliments Rogers earlier
position at the Town's Whitby's Civic Recreation Complex.
