The Town of Whitby Plays Santa for The Salvation Army
Annual ‘Stuff a Bug’ Toy Drive Returns
Whitby — November 28, 2007 — On November 30, the Town of Whitby is launching its annual ‘Stuff a Bug’ campaign, giving less fortunate children in our community new toys on Christmas morning.
The campaign’s signature Volkswagen Bug is provided so residents can stuff toys through the open sunroof. The Salvation Army distributes these to disadvantaged families in the region.
The dressed up VW Bug is a unique way to collect toys. It is generously provided by Owasco Volkswagen as a reminder that the spirit of Christmas is giving. The staff and sponsors of Iroquois Park Sports Centre are happy to support this great holiday initiative.
All donations are collected
in conjunction with the Durham Regional Police Annual Toy Drive and the proceeds
are distributed locally through the Salvation Army. This year’s toy drive
will kick off at the Whitby Christmas Tree Lighting on November 30. ‘Stuff
a Bug’ will also be at the Santa Claus Parade on December 1 and at Iroquois
Park Sports Centre from December 3 to December 21.
